The Benefits of Riboflavin

Riboflavin is also known as vitamin B-2 or vitamin G. It is important because it helps the body metabolize energy. Symptoms of riboflavin deficiency include sore throat, swelling of mucous membranes, mouth and/or lip sores, anemia, and skin disorders. Its nearly impossible to take too much riboflavin, and there is no known toxicity level.

Its a water-soluble vitamin and the body excretes any excess in the urine. But it will turn urine a bright yellow if you eat it in high enough levels. The U.S. Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for riboflavin for adult males is around 1.3mg. For women, its approximately 1.1 mg. Age, pregnancy, breastfeeding and exercise levels can affect the RDA for riboflavin.
